Provincetown Voted Best Resort Town 2011

The results are in! Provincetown has been voted "Best Resort Town 2011" by www.gaycities.com readers winning 28% of the votes. This after the U.S. Census results in 2011 declared Provincetown the "Gayest city in America."

"It's no surprise to me that our members voted to make Provincetown the Best Resort Town 2011," said Scott Gatz, Gaycities.com CEO. "Just one look at GayCities guide to P'town and you'll see it's got everything you'd want for your escape: great food, great beaches and a great social scene," he added.

Provincetown won 28% of the total votes, whereas Palm Springs, the runner-up, received 24 percent. Sitges, Saugatuck and Rehoboth Beach followed with 18, 8 and 6 percent, respectively.

"Members from all over the world casted tens of thousands of votes for their favorite towns. Provincetown and Palm Springs were neck and neck up til the very end. Both places offer a great escape for the traveler (and nearby locals) and are incredibly welcoming to the gay community. Our members were asked to choose their favorite resort town, and the results show just how loyal folks are to P'town," said Gatz.

Flying Over Provincetown

Last week I flew into Provincetown on Cape Air. The flight is very convenient out of Logan Airport and takes only 20 minutes. The boarding gate at Logan is in Terminal C. In the same terminal is Jet Blue, so connections from any Jet Blue flights are hassle free! The rates and flight times for Cape Air flights vary throughout the year, so check out their website www.flycapeair.com

There was only myself and my partner Ken Russo on the flight. The pilot asked if we had some extra time. We said yes and he gave us a great flyover of Provincetown and Truro. I had never seen this part of the Cape before from the air and I was stunned at the beauty. I took some photos and wanted to share them with you.

Ernie Slone, publisher of Dog Fancy Magazine, was here in Provincetown this past weekend to present the town with the award of the #1 Dog Friendly town in the USA. Along with the award, Ernie presented the Pilgrim Dog Park a check for $2,500. Not to leave out the cats in our town he also presented a check to CASAS for their facility that houses cats waiting for an adoption.
